THE SENIOR CHIEF RICK CHAMBERLIN

I have always been interested in country music. From the time that I was 12 years old, my favorite country artists were George Jones, Patsy Cline, Faron Young and Connie Smith. In 1966 I was working for the Silver Spurs Rodeo in Kissimmee, Florida. I had the opportunity to meet Dottie West who was putting on a show there. I knew from that moment that I wanted to be part of country music.

I began my Country Radio career at WFIV 1080 AM in Kissimmee in 1967. I also worked at WJPB in Kissimmee, WHBO in Tampa and then at 50,000 watt WHOO 990 in Orlando, Florida, which at that time was the premier country station in Central Florida.

In 1970 I left the radio business to serve my country. I enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. What was supposed to be a four year tour ended up as 24 year career. I served at various commands state side, overseas and underway aboard 3 different ships, the Androscoggin, the Courageous and the Chase. I retired in 1993 having achieved the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer.

Upon my military retirement, I returned to radio at WCNC in Elizabeth City, NC, from there I went to WKJX Kix Country in Elizabeth City. In 1996 I was asked to join the crew at Dixie 105.7, and I have enjoyed every minute of it since then.

I live in Currituck County with my lovely wife Shelley who is a Professional Wedding and Portrait Photographer, and with our dog, a female Dalmatian named Kacy. We have 6 adult children and 8 grandchildren some of whom live in North Carolina and some in Florida.

LIA

Lia was surrounded by sounds of Country music from the time she was born. Her early memories as a little girl growing up in Oak Grove, Kentucky, are of her father singing George Jones songs in his truck and of sitting in the back of the family's nightclub, listening to honky tonk and gossiping with touring musicians.

Although the music ran deep in her, she didn't see herself in a Country career. She thought she was headed for a rock 'n' roll radio life. Of course, her first break was landing a job as host of “Cryin,’ Lovin,’ or Leavin’” on KRPM-FM a Country station in Seattle. Within months she was earning top ratings. Lia went on to produce a national Country show for Broadcast Programming. In less than a year she became its host and the “Lia” show was born.

Lia is Country radio’s hottest new star. She's not just a host, she is her listener. She keeps her fans glued to the radio with compelling listener calls, stellar personality and great Country music. Her quick wit, endless compassion, and engaging personality turns cume and time-spent-listening into revenue for her affiliates. She’s turning new listeners on to the format every night. And now, over 3 million listeners seek her out every week.

Lia believes Country music is America’s music. It sings of an American way of life: good, strong, wholesome, and free. And scores of Americans listen eagerly every night for "Hi...this is Lia!"
